Shimla is the capital of the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, in the Himalayan foothills. Once the summer capital of British India, it remains the terminus of the narrow-gauge Kalka-Shimla Railway, completed in 1903. It’s also known for the handicraft shops that line The Mall, a pedestrian avenue, as well as the Lakkar Bazaar, a market specializing in wooden toys and crafts. Shimla is home to a number of buildings that are styled in the Tudorbethan and neo-Gothic architectures dating from the colonial era, as well as multiple temples and churches. The colonial architecture and churches, the temples and the natural beauty of the city attract a large number of tourists. Shimla is situated at a height of 2200 Meters from the see level.

Kinnaur is one of twelve administrative districts in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. The district is divided into three administrative areas – Pooh, Kalpa, and Bhaba Nagar and has five Tehsils. The administrative headquarters of Kinnaur district is at Reckong Peo. From here Kinnaur Kailash considered to be the abode of Lord Shiva, can be viewed. A mountainous area, ranging in altitude from 2,320 to 6,816 meters (7,612 to 22,362 ft), Kinnaur is one of the smallest districts in India by population. It is famous for the Kinnaur Kailash, a mountain sacred to Hindus, close to the Tibetan border. Kalpa is a small town in the Sutlej river valley, above Recong Peo in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh in the Indian Himalayas. Inhabited by Kinnauri people and famous for its apple orchards. Apples are a major cash-crop for the region. The local inhabitants follow a syncretism of Hinduism and Buddhism, and many temples in Kalpa are dedicated to both Hindu and Buddhist gods and goddesses. Sangla is a city in the Baspa Valley, also referred to as the Sangla valley, in the Kinnaur District of Himachal Pradesh, India, close to the Tibetan border. Sangla Valley or the Baspa Valley starts at Karcham and ends at Chitkul. Sangla is the major town in the valley with a petrol pump, Bank ATMs, Post Office, Restaurants, Bar, mid range hotels and shops. The valley is surrounded by forested slopes and offers views of the high mountains. Its location in the greater Himalayan range gives it a milder climate than the plains. Besides the natural beauty of Great Himalaya Kamru Fort, Mata Devi Temple & Bearing Nag Temples are the main attractions of the Valley.

Day 01: Arrival Shimla + Local Sightseeing Tour

Arrive at Shimla, check in to hotel. After breakfast and some rest, proceed for local sightseeing tour of Shimla city. Shimla is the capital city of the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, in the Himalayan foothills. Shimla was the summer capital of British India. Considered to be the Queen of the hills and it is famous and popular hill tourist destination of India for the memorable holidays. It is also known as “Dev Bhoomi” (The land of god). Later free for independent activities and overnight stay at Shimla hotel. Visit to Sankat Mochan Temple, Kali Bari Temple, Vice Regal Lodge, Scandal Point, Christ Church and evening free to stroll in the famous shopping place of Shimla city at The Mall & The Ridge and overnight stay at Shimla hotel.

Day 02: Shimla – Kufri – Naldehra – Narkanda – Sangla/Raksham (240 Km) Travel time 7/8 hours (Approx)

After breakfast check out from Shimla hotel and drive to Sangla en route visiting Kufri, Naldehra and Narkanda. Evening arrival at Sangla, check in to hotel. Sangla – Sangla is a city in the Baspa Valley, also referred to as the Sangla valley, in the Kinnaur District of Himachal Pradesh, India, close to the Tibetan border.  Later free for independent activities or explore Sangla local market and overnight stay at Sangla/Raksham hotel.

Day 03: Sangla – Chhitkul/Raksham – Sangla (35 Km) 

After leisurely breakfast full day sightseeing tour of Sangla and Chhitkul, drive to Chhitkul/Chitkul – Chitkul is a village in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh. It is the last inhabited Indian village near the Indo-China border. The Indian road ends here. Later drive to Sangla en route visiting Raksham Village, Azad Kashmir (Located at across the River Baspa) and Fish Farm (Located at across the River Baspa). On arrival at Sangla visit to Tibetan Wood Carving Centre – A paradise for shopaholics, this place is famous for its Tibetan products made of wood carvings. Bering Nag Temple – Must visit this temple, it is one of the most important temples for Hindus. Very fine an architectural work in the temple. Kamru Fort – This fort is a perfect place for a glimpse in to the artistic legacy of past. Now it is converted into a temple and it is dedicated to Hindu Goddess Kamakhya Devi. Sangla Meadow – Lush green meadows spotted with mud patches and a magnificent backdrop of snow covered Himalayan Mountains. Buddhist Monastery – It is one of the major attractions in the Sangla Valley, attracting a large number of tourists. Baspa River – A beauty full place for adventure activities with the scenic beauty for photography and also an ideal place for fishing, camping and trekking. Evening explore local Sangla market and overnight stay at Sangla/Raksham hotel.

Day 04: Sangla/Raksham – Reckong Peo – Kalpa (50 Km) Travel time 2 hours (Approx)

After leisurely breakfast check out from Sangla/Raksham hotel and drive to Kalpa is situated at a high altitude of 2759 meters from the sea level, on the old Hindustan-Tibet Road. Reckong Peo is district head quarter of Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh. Kalpa is located around 9 Km away from Reckong Peo. It is a border district of Himachal Pradesh. Kinnaur is also rich in flora & fauna. The culture and language is different from other parts of the state. Kinnaur is a tribal district of Himachal Pradesh. It is also famous for best quality of Apple’s. On arrival at Kalpa, check in to hotel. After refresh free for your own activities or explore Kalpa village/local market and overnight stay at Kalpa hotel.

Day 05: Kalpa – Reckong Peo – Kalpa Sightseeing Tour (13 Km)

After leisurely breakfast full day excursion and visiting Kalpa Village, Kinner Kailash Mountain Peak, Bhaba Valley, Chandika Temple and various monasteries of Reckong Peo. Evening explore Reckong Peo local market and overnight stay at Kalpa hotel. Reckong Peo town is a last place where foreign tourists can get Inner Line Permit to visit Spiti Valley.

Day 06: Reckong Peo – Shimla (220 Km) Travel time 7/8 hours (Approx)  

After breakfast check out from Kalpa hotel and drive back to Shimla, evening arrive at Shimla, transfer to hotel and overnight stay at Shimla hotel.

Day 07: Shimla Departure  

After breakfast check out from Shimla hotel, proceed for your further journey back to home or onward destination.
