ABOUT DESTINATIONS

Mysore or Mysuru – It is the third most populous city in the South Indian state of Karnataka. It is located in the foothills of the Chamundi Hills about 150 Km southwest of Bangalore. Mysore city is known as “City of Palaces”. Mysore is noted for its heritage structures and palaces, including the Mysore Palace and for the festivities that take place during the Dasara festival when the city receives a large number of tourists from around the world. Mysore is one of the most prominent tourist areas of India. City has also several lakes such as The Kukkarahalli, The Karanji and The Lingambudhi lakes.

Ooty (The Queen of Hill Stations) – Is also known as Udhagamandalam and is a beautiful hill station situated at an altitude of 2286 Meters above from the sea level, in the south India state of Tamil Nadu. The town is surrounded by trees, central Ooty Lake is a huge artificial expanse of water with pleasure boats. On the slopes of nearby Elk Hill, the Rose Garden is home to over 2,000 varieties of roses. The climate in Ooty is mostly pleasant and thus one can plan a visit at any time of the year except monsoon. Ooty is located 86 Km from north of Coimbatore and 158 Km south of Mysore and is the capital of the Nilgiris district. It is a popular hill station located in the Nilgiri Hills. The town is connected by the Nilgiri Ghat Roads and Nilgiri Mountain Railway. Its natural environment attracts tourists and it is a popular summer hill tourist destination of Tamil Nadu. Ooty is well connected to the road network. It is 306 km from Bengaluru (Via Mysore and Bandipur) 558 Km from Chennai (via Salem, Erode, and Coimbatore), 246 Km from Kannur, 180 Km from Calicut and nearly 100 Km from Wayanad. The Nilgiri Mountain Railway (NMR) is one of the oldest mountain railways in Ooty, India and was declared by the UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in July 2005. It is the only Rack Railway in India and uses the Abt system. Mettupalayam which is 47 Km away from Ooty is the nearest major railway station. There are regular train services from Mettupalayam to Coimbatore and Chennai. Toy Train from Mettupalayam to Ooty covers a distance of 46 Km. The train offers to travellers with long stretches of rice fields, lofty hills, 13 tunnels and 26 viaducts. It also offers nice photographic opportunities as well. The nearest Airport is Coimbatore around 96 Km away and Major International Airport is Bengaluru (Kempegowda International Airport 273 Km away). 

Coonoor – It is located about 20 Km from Ooty, at an altitude of 1,850 Meters above from the sea level and it is the second largest hill station in the Nilgiri hills after Ooty. It is an ideal point for a number of trekking expeditions leading into the Nilgiris. Coonoor is a popular tourist destination with its lush green tea gardens and scenic view points. The popular tourist places in Coonoor are Sim's Park, Lam's Rock and Dolphin's Nose View Point.

Kodaikanal – Is a hill town, at an altitude of 2,000 Meters above from the sea level, located in the hills of Dindigul District of Tamil Nadu in South India. Kodaikanal is referred to as the "Princess of Hill stations". Kodaikanal is a popular hill tourist destination along with several scenic natural attractions which are enjoyed by its visitors and make it a popular romantic destination for newly married couples.

Bangalore – Mysore – Ooty/Coonoor – Kodaikanal – Coimbatore

Day 01: Arrive at Bangalore – Mysore (150 Km) Travel time 3/4 hours (Approx)

Arrival at Bangalore, meet to our representative, he will assist you to transfer to Mysore. Pick up from Bangalore Airport/Railway station and straight drive to Mysore. Upon arrival at Mysore, check in to hotel. After refresh and some rest, proceed to visit Brindavan Gardens – Is a show garden that has a beautiful botanical park, with fountains, as well as boat rides in the river beneath the dam. Later return back to your hotel and overnight stay at Mysore hotel.

Day 02: Mysore Sightseeing Tour – Ooty (126 Km) Travel time 4 hours (Approx)

After breakfast, check out from Mysore hotel and proceed for Mysore sightseeing tour and visit to Chamundi Temple/Hills – Is located 13 Km east of Mysore city, in the “Palace City of Karnataka”. Its average elevation is 1,000 Meters (3,300 ft) above from the sea level. A panoramic view of the city is seen from the top of the hills, including views of the Lalitha Mahal palace, Mysore Palace, Karanji and Kukkarahalli lakes. Chamundi temple is dedicated to goddess Chamundeshwari which is located atop the main hill. Nandi (Bull Temple) – This unique Nandi (Bull) statue made by black stone is 16 feet in height and 24 feet length (Approx) – the third largest in India. Maharaja Dodda Devaraja Wodeyar of Mysore has initiated this temple. Also visit famous Mysore Palace – Is a historical palace and a royal residence at Mysore in the southern Karnataka. It is the official residence of the Wadiyar dynasty. The palace is in the centre of Mysore and faces the Chamundi Hills eastward. The architectural style of domes of the palace is commonly described as Indo-Saracenic with blends of the Hindu, Mughal, Rajput and Gothic styles. It is a three story stone structure with marble domes and has a 145 ft. five story tower. The palace is surrounded by a large garden. Mysore Palace is now one of the most famous tourist attractions in India, after the Taj Mahal. Later drive to Ooty en route visiting Pykara Lake & Falls – Is the name of a village and river 19 Km from Ooty in the Indian State of Tamil Nadu. Pykara Lake is the largest river in Ooty and also one of the popular picnic spot. Upon arrival at Ooty, check in to your pre booked hotel and overnight stay at Ooty hotel.

Day 03: Ooty Sightseeing Tour

After breakfast, proceed for full day sightseeing tour of Ooty and explore several prominent tourist attractions of Ooty and visit to Botanical Garden – This botanical garden located in Ooty, Tamil Nadu. The Gardens, divided into several sections, cover an area of around 55 hectares and lie on the lower slopes of Doddabetta peak. The garden has a terraced layout. It is maintained by the Tamil Nadu Horticulture Department. Doddabetta Peak – It is the highest peak of the Nilgiris Hills at an altitude of 2,683 Meters above from the sea level, situated at about 10 Km from the Ooty, it is also the second highest peak of South India. It lies at the junction of the Western and Eastern Ghats surrounded by dense Sholas. Charring cross – It is a junction in NH 67 (India) intersecting the commercial road and the Ooty-Coonoor road in Ooty. It is considered to be one of the most important and beautiful places in Ooty. Tea Factory & The Tea Museum – It is a home to some of the largest tea growing belts in India. Also visit to famous Ooty Lake – This Lake is an artificial lake, covers an area of 65 acres. The boat house established alongside the lake, which offers boating facilities to tourists and one of the most popular tourist attractions in Ooty. In the evening free for shopping and explore local market of Ooty. Later return back to hotel and overnight stay at Ooty hotel.

Day 04: Ooty – Coonoor Sightseeing Tour (20 Km) Travel by Toy Train Ooty to Coonoor (Optional) – Kodaikanal (238 Km) Travel time 6/7 hours (Approx)

After breakfast check out from Ooty hotel and transfer to Ooty Railway station to board the Toy Train for journey to Coonoor (Buy tickets directly from Ooty Railway station by your own before 1 hour prior journey to Coonoor). Cab will wait for you at Coonoor Railway station. Upon arrival at Coonoor, pick up from Coonoor Railway station and proceed for Coonoor sightseeing tour and visit to Sim's Park – This botanical park is in Coonoor and located at a height of 1,780 Meters above from the sea level, it is an important tourist place to visit in Coonoor. The garden is visited by thousands of tourists throughout the year and even in winter. Lamb's Rock – Is a tourist spot in Coonoor, Tamil Nadu, on the slopes of the Nilgiri Hills. It is located at a distance of 8 Km from Coonoor. This place offers panoramic views of Coimbatore plains, tea estates and coffee estates. Route to this place also offers trekking opportunities. Dolphin's Nose View Point – View point is a tourist spot, located at 10 Km from Coonoor in the Nilgiris District of Tamil Nadu. Dolphin's Nose is well over 1,000 ft. above from the sea level and is a spectacular spot to visit. The tip of the peak resembles a Dolphin's nose, hence the name Dolphin's Nose. Later continue drive to Kodaikanal. Upon arrival at Kodaikanal, check in to hotel and overnight stay at Kodaikanal hotel.

Please note: Toy Train journey from Ooty to Coonoor is an optional and if you want to get experience for Toy Train, then you can opt this. Otherwise you can travel by same cab.  

Day 05: Kodaikanal Sightseeing Tour

After breakfast, proceed for full day sightseeing tour of Kodaikanal and explore prominent tourist attraction of Kodaikanal and visit to Pillar Rocks – It is 8 Km away from the Kodaikanal bus stand, Pillar Rock is a set of three giant rock pillars which stand at a height of 122 Meters. There is an excellent public garden adjacent to the viewpoint. This spot offers captivating view of lush green surroundings, it also offers magnificent view of the Vaigai Dam. Dolphin's Nose – It is 8 Km way from the Kodaikanal, is flat rock over a breathtaking chasm 6,600 feet (2,000 Meters) deep. Beautiful views of steep rocky escarpments rising from the plains can be seen. A short paved walkway leads from the road here to Pambar falls (which is also locally addressed as 'Liril Falls' after the famous Liril Soap Advertisement filming in 1985). Pine forest or Bryant Park – Mr. Bryant started the Kodaikanal pine plantations in the south-west of Kodaikanal in 1906 with a view to growing valuable timber. The Pine forest is a paradise for photographers and also beauty full place for nature lovers. Horse riding and walking is quite popular here. Coaker's Walk – Is a 1 Km paved pedestrian path built in 1872 by Lt. Coaker, running along the edge of steep slopes on the southern side of Kodai. Walking here is a unforgettable experience of life, which providing a stunning panoramic view of the plains. On a clear day one can view as far as Dolphin's Nose in the south, the valley of the Pambar River in the southeast, Periyakulam town and even the city of Madurai. Telescope House – Located at mid of Coaker's Walk on the northern tip, Telescope House is the best place, where you can take panoramic view of the surrounding areas such as Vaigai Dam, Sothupparai Dam, Periyakulam and Varaha River. Also visit to famous Kodaikanal Lake – Is an artificial lake, built in 1863. It is recognized as Kodaikanal's most popular geographic landmark and tourist attraction. The 5 Km path that skirts the periphery of this lovely lake is a favorite walk for the locals and tourists alike. Boating, horse riding, bicycling are a few of the popular activities around the lake. In the evening Shopping – You are free for shopping in Kodaikanal and explore Kashmir Handicrafts Centre, Khadi Emporium, Government Sales Emporium and Handloom Co-Operative Stores. You can also buy homemade chocolates, cheese and marshmallows. Aromatherapy products and herbs are also bought by almost every tourist. Later return back to your hotel and overnight stay at Kodaikanal hotel.

Day 06: Kodaikanal – Coimbatore Departure (170 Km) Travel time 4/5 hours (Approx)

After breakfast check out from Kodaikanal hotel and drive to Coimbatore. On arrival at Coimbatore, transfer to Airport/Railway station to board the flight/train for further journey back to home or onward destination.
