ABOUT DESTINATIONS

Katra or Katra Vaishno Devi, as it is popularly known, is a small town in Reasi district of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir situated in the foothills of the Trikuta Mountains, where the holy shrine of Vaishno Devi is located. It is located around 50 km from the city of Jammu. Katra serves as the base camp for pilgrims who visit Mata Vaishno Devi. To reach Vaishno Devi Mandir (Temple) the pilgrims have to register at the Katra before starting the trek. By registering, the pilgrims get accident insurance while on the trek for 1 Lakh INR. It is a trek of 14 KM. There is another trek (1.5 km) from Vaishno Devi temple for Baba Bhaironnath. It is said that the pilgrimage is not complete until you visit this temple at last. The scenery throughout the trek is picturesque. Environment friendly auto rickshaws and helicopter services are available, to make the journey a pleasant one.

Patnitop is a hilltop tourist location in Udhampur district in Jammu & Kashmir state of India. Situated on a plateau in the Shiwalik belt of the Himalayas, Patnitop sits at an altitude of 2,024 Meters (6,640 ft) above from the see level. The river Chenab flows in close proximity to this location.

Srinagar is the largest city and the summer capital of the Indian state of Jammu & Kashmir, situated at an altitude of 1,585 Meters or 5,200 ft above from the see level. It lies on the banks of the Jhelum River, a tributary of the Indus, Dal and Anchar lakes. The city is famous for its gardens, waterfronts and houseboats. It is also known for traditional Kashmiri handicrafts and dried fruits. There are a number of lakes and swamps in and around the city. These include the Dal, the Nigeen, the Anchar, Khushal Sar, Gil Sar and Hokersar.

Sonmarg is very popular tourist spot in Kashmir and is famous for its natural beauty, alpine flowers, evergreen pine trees and silver birch. Here enjoy the lovely view of the nature which is simply mesmerizing and beyond words to describe.

Gulmarg is a town and another beautiful hill station in Jammu & Kashmir. It is a popular skiing destination and a notified area committee in Baramula district in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. Gulmarg lies in a cup shaped valley in the Pir Panjal Range of the Himalayas, situated at an altitude of 2,650 Meters (8,694 ft). Gulmarg is the "heartland of winter sports in India" and was rated as Asia's seventh best ski destination.

Pahalgam is a town and a notified area committee in Anantnag district of the Indian state of Jammu & Kashmir. It is a popular tourist destination and hill station. Pahalgam is located on the banks of Lidder River at an altitude of 7,200 feet (2,200 Meters) above from see level. Pahalgam is the headquarters of one of the five Tehsils of Anantnag district. Pahalgam is associated with the annual Amarnath Yatra.

Day 01: Arrival at Jammu – Katra (50 Km) 1/2 Hours drive

Arrive at Jammu, pick up from Jammu Airport/Railway station and straight drive to Katra. On arrival at Katra, check in to hotel. After refresh free for independent activities or explore local market of Katra and overnight stay at Katra hotel.

Day 02: Katra – Trek to Mata Vaishno Devi Bhawan (12 Km)

After early breakfast, trek to Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine, the holy temple which is dedicated to Shakti. You may also hire the Ponies by your own for arranged trek to Mata Vaishno Devi Temple which is second largest visited temple by the devotees of India after the Tirupati Balaji Temple. During the Mata Vaishno Devi trekking stop at Ardhkuwari Temple. After the Mata Vaishno Devi Temple darshan en route visit to Baba Bhaironath Temple (Compulsory visit). Later return back to Katra and overnight stay at Katra hotel. 

Day 03: Katra – Patnitop – Srinagar (280 Km) Travel time 8 hours
After breakfast check out from Katra hotel and drive to Srinagar en route visiting Patnitop. Patnitop – Is a hilltop tourist location in Udhampur district in Jammu & Kashmir state of India. Situated on a plateau in the Shiwalik belt of the Himalayas, Patnitop sits at an altitude of 2,024 Meters (6,640 ft) above from the see level. Visit to Naag Temple (Naag Mandir) – This temple is near Patnitop, standing amidst lush green surroundings, the temple is not only a significant religious point in Patnitop, but also a spot which leaves its visitors fascinated by the sceneries around. Apple Garden and Nathatop – 14 Km away from Patnitop and a wonderful place which is thickly covered by snow during the winter months. Nathatop is an excellent place for adventure sports as ice skiing and Paragliding etc. The place has also three scenic fresh water springs in its proximity which are known for their medicinal qualities. Nathatop offers amazing views of western Himalayas. Day 04: Srinagar – Sonmarg – Srinagar (85 Km) 3 Hours journey

After breakfast, proceed for sightseeing tour of Sonmarg and drive to Sonmarg. Sonmarg – Is very popular tourist spot in Kashmir and is famous for its natural beauty, alpine flowers, evergreen pine trees and silver birch. Here enjoy the lovely view of the nature which is simply mesmerizing and beyond words to describe. En route visiting Kheer Bhawani – Is a temple dedicated to the Goddess Kheer Bhawani (originally just Bhawani) constructed over a sacred spring. The worship of Kheer Bhawani is universal among the Hindus of Kashmir.   On arrival at Sonmarg, take a 3 hours trek to Thajwass Glacier by walking or by horseback. Later drive back to Srinagar, dinner and overnight stay at Srinagar hotel. 

Day 05: Srinagar – Gulmarg – Srinagar (59 Km) 2/3 hours drive

After breakfast, proceed for Pahalgam sightseeing tour and drive to Pahalgam. Gulmarg is a town and another beautiful hill station in Jammu & Kashmir. It is a popular skiing destination and a notified area committee in Baramula district in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. Gulmarg lies in a cup shaped valley in the Pir Panjal Range of the Himalayas, situated at an altitude of 2,650 Meters (8,694 ft). Gulmarg is the "heartland of winter sports in India" and was rated as Asia's seventh best ski destination. On arrival at Gulmarg visit to Khilanmarg – Is a small valley about a 6-km walk from the Gulmarg. The meadow, carpeted with flowers in the spring, is the site for Gulmarg’s winter ski runs and offers a fine view of the surrounding peaks and over the Kashmir Valley. Later enjoy Gondola Cable Car ride (A short ropeway ride) and some horse riding. Later drive back to Srinagar, dinner and overnight stay at Srinagar hotel.

Day 06: Srinagar Local Sightseeing Tour

After breakfast, proceed for local sightseeing tour of Srinagar city and visit to the colour full Mughal Gardens – Mughal Gardens are a group of gardens built by the Mughals in the Persian style of architecture. This style was heavily influenced by the Persian Gardens particularly the Charbagh structure. Chashma Shahi – Also called Chashme Shahi, is one of the Mughal gardens built in 1632 around a spring by Ali Mardan Khan, a governor of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. This beauty full garden presents Mughal architecture as used in different Mughal gardens. The artistically build garden has Iranian influence in its art and architecture and the design is based on the Persian gardens. Pari Mahal – The Pari Mahal was built by Mughal Prince Dara Shikoh in the mid-1600s. It served as a library and an abode for him. Pari Mahal or The Angels' Abode is a seven terraces garden located at the top of Zabarwan mountain range over-looking city of Srinagar and south-west of Dal Lake. Shalimar Bagh – Is a Mughal garden in Srinagar, linked through a channel to the northeast of Dal Lake, on its right bank located on the outskirts of Srinagar city. Nishat Garden/Bagh – Nishat Bagh is a terraced Mughal garden built on the eastern side of the Dal Lake, close to Srinagar in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, India. It is the second largest Mughal garden in the Kashmir Valley. The largest in size is the Shalimar Bagh, which is also located on the bank of the Dal Lake. Shankaracharya Temple – The Shankaracharya Temple which lies on a hill top in the middle of the city and it is dedicated to Lord Shiva, besides the Kheer Bhawani Temple are important Hindu temples in the city. Evening enjoy Shikara ride at Dal lake. Later return back to hotel en route you can also explore local market of Srinagar and visit the local Handicraft Emporium and get an insight of Kashmir’s arts, Crafts, Carpet making traditions and traditional Jewelleries. On arrive at hotel/house boats, overnight stay at Srinagar hotel.

Day 07: Srinagar – Pahalgam (95 Km) Travel time 3/4 hours

After breakfast check out from Srinagar hotel and drive to Pahalgam via Pampore, Avantipura and the village of Bijbehara which remains famous as the bread basket of Kashmir. On arrival at Pahalgam, check in to the hotel. Pahalgam – Is a town and a notified area committee in Anantnag district of the Indian state of Jammu & Kashmir. It is a popular tourist destination and hill station. Pahalgam is located on the banks of Lidder River at an altitude of 7,200 feet (2,200 Meters) above from see level. Day 08: Pahalgam Sightseeing Tour

After breakfast, proceed for sightseeing tour of Pahalgam and visit to Aru Valley, Betaab Valley – Betaab Valley is a valley located at 15 Km from Pahalgam. The valley got its name from a Bollywood movie Betab that was shot here. Chandanwari – Is located 16 Km from Pahalgam is the starting point of the Amarnath Yatra that takes place every year in the months of July & August. It lies at an elevation of 2,923 Meters and famous for its snow bridge. Also take a trip of horse riding to Baisaran meadows (at your own cost). Later free for your own activities or explore local market of Pahalgam and overnight stay at Pahalgam hotel.

Day 09: Pahalgam – Jammu (285 Km) Travel time 7/8 hours  

After breakfast check out from Pahalgam hotel and drive to Jammu. On arrival at Jammu, transfer to Jammu Airport/Railway station to board the flight/train for further journey back to home.
